WHAT IS VOLLEYBALL?

ball

Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams of six players are separated by a net. Each team tries to score points by grounding a ball on the other team's court under organized rules. The team that wins the rally is awarded a point and serves the ball to start the next rally.

HISTORY OF VOLLEYBALL

Originally known as “mintonette,” volleyball was the brainchild of American William G. Morgan, who came up with the idea for the new sport in 1895. As a student at the Springfield College in Massachusets, he had befriended James Naismith who, in 1891, had himself invented basketball.
